![]() Without an active community working on SquirrelMail, cPanel has decided to drop it from their Webmail options. In it’s peak, SquirrelMail was a simple and easy to use Webmail interface. In cPanel version 78, SquirrelMail has officially been removed. ![]() With the removal of SquirrelMail customers will now have two Webmail application choices: HordeMail and RoundCube. Both of these have been active in cPanel for years so users using either application will not be impacted. If you used SquirrelMail then you’ll now either have to choose HordeMail or RoundCube once you login to Webmail. HordeMail is simple to use however if you’re looking for a more modern look then we’d recommend using RoundCube.Īnother option is to use Gsuite or Office365.Ĭhoosing either application will load all of your existing email etc. Both of these are paid services offered by Google and Microsoft for small businesses. You can use your own domain name with both Gsuite and Office365 and the setup is pretty straight-forward. This document describes the horde-squirrelmail-contacts-import-plugin plugin.Īlthough there is a cost associated with these two email services they are geared towards users who want reliability and familiarity. Benefits Of Using WebmailĪlthough most people use a third-party email client on their computer such as Outlook, Thunderbird or Mac Mail, it’s always nice having the option to access your email through a web browser. We deprecated SquirrelMail in cPanel & WHM version 74 and removed it in cPanel & WHM version 78. The horde-squirrelmail-contacts-import-plugin plugin migrates a SquirrelMail users email contact list to their Horde address book. You can access Webmail from any computer with an Internet connection and web browser.Webmail is great for when you’re traveling and you may not have access to your laptop. Access your Inbox, Sent mail, Archived mail and custom folders at any time.Your data is safe and backed up on the hosting server so you don’t have to worry if your computer crashes.Webmail is accessed via SSL so your connection is secure and encrypted.Simply navigate to /webmail and once you’ve logged in you’ll be able to choose between HordeMail and RoundCube. Note: Webmail is accessed on specific ports so you may not be able to access Webmail if you’re behind a firewall that blocks the ports (library, coffee shop, workplace). What’s Next For cPanel WebmailĬPanel has been asking the community which open-source email client they want to see as an option in Webmail. If you’d like to share your input you can do so on the cPanel Feature Request page.
